Part-time Assignments Editor KIAH-TV has an immediate opening for a part-time assignments editor. The part-time assignments editor reports directly to the Assignments Manager. He or she will be responsible for setting up stories for same day execution as well as the development of stories for future use. That person will also be expected to maintain communications with crews in the field and provide them with assistance when necessary. Other duties will include beat checks, scanner monitoring, and providing information to producers and editors on story status. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Weekend Meteorologist KIAH-TV/DT in Houston, Texas has an immediate opening for a full-time weekend Meteorologist. Duties include anchoring our weekend newscast, filling in for the Chief Meteorologist when needed, periodic weather/science features and severe weather coverage as necessary. The successful candidate must have an in-residence BA/BS in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science, a minimum of two years experience on-air, an AMS or CBM Seal and the ability to put together viewer-friendly, forecast-driven weather segments that are accurate and easy to understand. Knowledge of WSI is a plus.

Part-Time Production Technician for our evening and weekend news productions. Responsibilities include operating studio and field camera, teleprompter, audio, as well as performing other duties as needed. Applicant should have a minimum of 2 years experience in a live news environment including Chyron Infinit! experience. Knowledge of EFP is a plus. SNG/ENG Operator/ Photographer KIAH News is expanding. KIAH has an opening for a full-time SNG/ENG Operator/ Photographer. The candidate must have a minimum 2-3 years Microwave truck experience. At least one year satellite truck experience preferred. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. The candidate should be able to uplink both analog and digital transmissions, must be capable of working within stringent time deadlines. Candidates must have the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and report/repair the trucks as needed. This person must be able to understand the technical aspects of the trucks, including patch panels schematics. This person must be self-motivated/ eager/ yet calm in all stressful situations and able to work with minimal guidance. Candidate must also be able to shoot general news assignments in addition to being able to edit (linear and non-linear) as well as performing other tasks as assigned. Prior experience using Sony DNE 700 editing equipment is preferred. Candidates must also have a clean record along with valid driver's license. Part time Engineering Operations Technician Applicant must have master control and/or videotape experience. Prefer applicant to have an RTF or related degree, Louth automation knowledge, and excellent computer skills. The EOT will work in master control running a Saturn switcher with Louth automation and in videotape taking feeds using a Compusat system. Other job responsibilities will include but may not be limited to: monitoring the on-air quality, checking and maintaining program and transmitter logs, prepping and profiling programs, commercials, public service announcements, editing, shading cameras and pulling in live shots.
